Residence Hall Wired & Wireless Networking: Getting Connected (Wireless)

Who can use this?

Carroll University Students.

What is this?

Carroll supports AC and 802.11b/g/n in all Residence Halls. The wireless network provides full access to the Carroll Network and Internet.

"Private" wireless networks are not allowed and operating one will result in the loss of network privileges.

When connecting to the "Carroll" network with most devices including smartphones, tablets, game consoles, etc., you will be prompted for a username (or identity) and password when connecting; when prompted for this information, please enter your Carroll username and password.

You will normally see two SSIDs broadcast on campus:

  • Carroll - This one is for all members of the Carroll community including students, faculty, and staff
  • Carroll Guest - This is for anyone without a Carroll network account

All dorm rooms on campus have access to Carroll's Wi-Fi network. For smartphones, laptops, and tablets simply connect to Carroll, enter your Carroll username & password and you should be all set.

For other devices such as game consoles, Chromecasts, and Smart TVs that cannot properly redirect to our login, please connect that device to the Carroll Guest network. On our end, we should detect the device and move it over on the back end to the proper Carroll network.
