Please note this is for personally owned devices only. Carroll-issued equipment comes with Office already installed.
Office 365 and One Drive for Business file storage is available to students enrolled at Carroll and faculty & staff only while employed at Carroll University. If you leave the University, Microsoft will end your subscription. However, if you graduate from the University, your subscription will stay active for one year after you graduate.
ABOUT OFFICE 365
Use Office 365 for free on up to five desktop computers (Mac or Windows) and mobile devices. You also will have 1TB (1024 GB) of online storage in One Drive.
Please note that while cloud storage has redundancies to prevent data loss on Microsoft's end, there are no backups created for files and folders. If you delete an item from your One Drive, you will have 120 days to recover it from your One Drive's recycle bin, OIT cannot enter your individual One Drive to recover the content for you. If you delete it permanently from the recycle bin or let the 120 days pass your content will be unrecoverable.
Applications within Office 365 include:
- Windows: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Skype for Business, OneDrive for Business
- Mac: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote
- iPad: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- iPhones, Android Phones, Windows Phones: Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, and PowerPoint Mobile
HOW TO GET OFFICE 365 FOR WINDOWS OR MAC
If there already is an existing version of Microsoft Office it will need to be uninstalled.
Installing Office 365 begins the same on all devices.
Go to http://portal.office.com
Enter your email (username@carrollu.edu) and your password to log in.
Once logged in, click on the Install apps on the upper right corner and select Office 365 apps. On PC & Mac, this will download the Office Installation Kit.
Follow the prompts on the software download to install Office. After the installation is complete and you launch any one of the applications you may be prompted to once again log in. Use the same login that you used for the Office 365 website. Your Office 365 license will now be active across all of the applications.
HOW TO GET OFFICE 365 PRO PLUS FOR MOBILE DEVICES
On Mobile Devices, after logging into http://portal.office.com, clicking on Install Office Apps will open a new page. Swipe down to see the individual list of the apps. Clicking on any of these will then open links to their responding apps within the App Store or Google Play store. Once downloaded, you will log in with the same login you used on the Office website.
