New Hardware/Software Request

Overview

Use this service to request a new piece of hardware or software for your office environment. New pieces of hardware would include:

  • An ergonomic mouse/keyboard
  • Extra display(s)
  • Writing utensils that would work with a university-issued device

New software requests may include:

  • Fonts
  • Specific programs/applications with an educational purpose

Faculty/Staff/Student Workers

When To Request Service

This service should be used prior to the purchase of any computer or any electronic device that is expected to directly interface with a Carroll computer. This service should be used even if OIT will not be directly responsible for actually purchasing the equipment (such as when equipment is included as a portion of a larger acquisition, or when extremely specialized equipment is required for research or laboratory use).

Involving OIT prior to the purchase of computers and accessories allows us to review the request for:

  • Compatibility with existing systems
  • Potential infrastructure impact(s)
  • Potential duplication of existing hardware/software functionality
  • Physical maintenance requirements
  • System maintenance requirements

Once the form has been submitted, OIT will review its contents and you will be contacted to proceed with the next step in the hardware acquisition process. Please note that OIT will not make a purchase without the approval of the appropriate budget coordinator.

When Not To Request Service

This service should not be used to request an update to an already existing piece of software.

Hardware requests that would fall under the category of furniture such as standing desks or bookshelves should be directed to facilities.
